MECHEM views the building of local demining capacity in mine affected countries to be of utmost importance. We not only provide the affected country with a capacity to take control and manage its own rehabilitation but also facilitate this rehabilitation by providing an income for some of its citizens.

It is therefore MECHEM policy to, wherever possible; make use of local labour for the execution of demining contracts.
