STEEL WHEELS
| |
DESCRIPTION: |
| Steel wheels are manufactured with the explicit aim of detonating anti-personnel mines by driving over them. The detonating power of anti-personnel landmines are insufficient to cause any significant damage to the wheels or the vehicle and these mines can, in this process, be neutralized quickly, safely and cost effectively. The system is not suitable for use with anti-tank mines because such mines cause too much damage to the wheels and the vehicle. If however an anti-tank mine is detonated the personnel would still be protected from such blast. |

| Steel wheels have the added ability of crushing and destroying the vegetation in the area in preparation of the terrain for the use of other methods of de-mining. |

| Although steel wheels are very robust and not easily broken, normal field repairs can be carried out to repair the minimal damage that could occur. |
