MINE DETECTION DOGS (MDDs)

MECHEM specializes in the training and employment of Mine Detection Dogs (MDDs).

Mine Detection Dogs form a very important part of the MECHEM mine action approach. Its incredible sense of smell allows the dog to identify the presence of minute traces of explosives and the incorporation of these dogs into the integrated MECHEM Mine Action Toolbox, enhances its efficiency and greatly increases productivity.

MECHEM endorses the principle of life-long learning and constant retraining and the maintenance of competence ensures that all dogs and handlers are always equipped and ready for any deployment. Lessons learned are constantly used to improve training and operational procedures.

Prior to deployment all MECHEM dogs are tested and accredited to stringent MECHEM quality standards. These standards are equal or higher than the International Standard.
