Twenty years since the last new CASSPIR MK-II rolled off the production line; MECHEM (Pty) Ltd. a subsidiary of the Denel Group of companies re-launched this formidable workhorse and benchmark in the field of Mine Protected Vehicles and Armoured Personnel Carriers.

MECHEM coincided the re-launch with its 50th anniversary celebrations on 28 May 2010. This truly South African company celebrated fifty years of service excellence as a world leader in creating a safer environment through providing mine action services; battle area clearance solutions; canine solutions; related skills development, Mine Protected Vehicles and Ancillary Equipment. During this time MECHEM invested a great deal resources into conceptualising the skills and equipment that have become the benchmark standards for demining operations, the CASSPIR MK-II attests to the fact.

The company took a strategic decision to build new models of the trusted CASSPIR MK-II due to:

The growing demand for the MK-II
The reliability of the MK-II after its sterling battle proven reputation
The fact that there are no more hulls available to re-manufacture
The after sales requirements for spares
MECHEM using these vehicles in its own demining and BAC operations
The price of the newly built MK-II is unbeatable

The vehicle will be available in the following models:

CASSPIR APC Personnel Carrier, 10 passengers + 2 crew members
CASSPIR Ambulance, which can be fitted with state of the art emergency equipment
CASSPIR Command Unit, to assist with command and control during operations
CASSPIR Recovery, for recovering in dangerous areas
